Incidental gallbladder carcinoma :Incidence and clinical significance in specimens from routine cholecystectomies in sohag locality
Gallstone disease represents one of the commonest benign biliary disorders encountered in general surgical practice, ranging from asymptomatic cholelithiasis to biliary colic, acute cholecystitis, chronic cholecystitis, pancreatitis, cholangitis, and obstructive jaundice. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is widely accepted as the standard definitive treatment for symptomatic gallstone disease and constitutes one of the most frequently performed abdominal operations worldwide This study aims to determine the incidence of incidental gallbladder carcinoma among routine cholecystectomy specimens in Sohag and to evaluate its clinicopathological characteristics, associated risk factors, histopathological staging, and clinical significance regarding postoperative management, referral, and need for further surgical intervention.
